Injected into the space inside a joint capsule, so the material acts on the joint's own tissues and fluid rather than travelling through the whole body. It is a clinical procedure, normally done with imaging or anatomical landmarks. Systemic exposure by this route is generally low and hard to predict.
Why it matters here
Some healing-related compounds have their strongest reported joint findings from intra-articular studies, and the rung recorded belongs to that route. Reading it as support for an injection under the skin of the abdomen is a route substitution, not an adjustment.
What it is not
Into the joint is not near the joint: peri-articular and intralesional injections are separate routes with separate literatures. Joint injection in everyday use also usually means a corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injection given in a clinic, which is a different substance altogether.
