Actin is the protein that forms a cell's internal scaffolding. It exists as free single units, called G-actin, and as assembled filaments, and the balance between the two governs how a cell changes shape and moves. Compounds filed here bind free G-actin and hold it in reserve, which changes how readily filaments assemble. This is the described action of the thymosin beta family.

Why it matters here

It is a genuinely molecular mechanism with a named binding partner, which puts it on firmer ground than the vaguer repair labels. Binding actin in a tube is still not a repair outcome, and a record should carry a rung for each.

What it is not

Sequestering G-actin is not building tissue and is not a growth factor action. The thymosin beta peptides are also unrelated in mechanism to the thymosin alpha peptides, despite sharing a name and a tissue of origin; those are filed under Thymic Immune Modulation.

Also called

G-actin means globular, or free, actin. Sequestration means binding it so it is unavailable for assembly. Cytoskeletal remodelling describes the downstream consequence rather than the binding event.
