A reported outcome category covering measured mental function: memory tests, attention and reaction-time tasks, executive function batteries, and validated clinical scales. It is a measurement category, not a feeling. Results in healthy adults and results in people with existing impairment are separate findings and do not transfer between those populations.
Why it matters here
Much of the material in this category is rodent maze work or in vitro neuron study, so the rung on a Cognitive Performance record often tells you the finding is about animals rather than people.
What it is not
Subjective focus is not measured cognition: feeling sharper is a self-report, highly susceptible to expectation, and is not a score on a task. Neuroplasticity is a mechanism rather than an outcome, and a change in synaptic signalling is not a change in performance.
